Signal's description

(approx. 150 words)
Please describe the Weak Signal (approx. 150 words)
The Water Framework Directive (WFD) is a legislation produced by the European Commission to achieve sustainable management of water across European Member States. The directive aims to achieve healthy water environment by taking account of environmental, economic and social considerations. The WISER project aims to develop integrated tools for assessing the ecological status of European surface waters and evaluate recovery processes in rivers, lakes and coastal/transitional waters under global change constraints. These challenges will lead to the development of integrative systems that will measure levels of Biological Quality Elements (BQE) and deliver real-time strategies to tackle associated water problems.

Mini-description

(max. 250 characters)
Growth of real-time monitoring and response to assess the ecological status of European surface waters and evaluate recovery processes in rivers, lakes and coastal/transitional waters under global change constraints.

Under what assumption the Weak Signal might evolve.

It reveals environmental anomalies. It shows a possibly new or emerging trend: Need to find real-time strategies to face fast-growing environmental problems.
