Headline

(max. 9 words)

world without secrets

Description

(approx. 150 words)
Please describe the Wild Card (approx. 150 words)
The development and introduction of great varaiety of sensors and survailence systems with high level of interconnection and interoperability will create an environment in which every thing individuals are doing is traceable and observable. Add to that the remote biosensing capabity of indeividuel's charactaristics to achieve complete uncontroled collection of data of any kind of humans by humans.

Keywords

surveillance, security, interoperability, observation, data collection

Mini-description

(max. 250 characters)

We approach a world in which we can "see" behind walls, "read" minds, hear from big distances , analyse DNA We should take into account that all our secrets are exposed.

Likelihood

Closest timeframe for at least 50% likelihood
Please use one of the following options:
now-2025

Type of event

Human planned (e.g. terrorist attack or funded scientific breakthrough)

Type of emergence

please select (if any) describe related trend or situation
A new development/situation
(e.g. a Romani state is established in central Europe; A message from an alien civilisation existing on a distant planet is received and understood, etc.

Historical parallels

development of data protection

Type of systems affected

Human-built Systems - E.g. organisations, processes, technologies, etc.

Classification

Mixed

Importance

please specify:
please select
Level 3: important for the European Union
Level 4: important for the whole world

Early indicators

(including weak signals)

introduction of CCTv, Biometrics databases, Photographing behind walls, developments in brain research

Latent phase

Obstacles for early indentification

scientific filters (knowledge/technology access)
political filters (party or ideological interests)

Manifestation phase

Type of manifestation

Very uncertain

Aftermath phase

Important implications
Collapse of a system

Comments

The known data protection concepts and systems will collapse

Pan-European strategies potentially helping to deal with the wild card

please justify:
particularly relevant
Increasing the efficiency and impact of public research through Joint Programming (i.e. combining national and pan-European research efforts) or the optimisation of research programmes and priorities, for example.

Features of a research-friendly ecology contributing to deal with the wild card

For further information about 'research-friendly strategies' click here

please justify:
particularly relevant
Creating a closer link between researchers & policy-makers
(e.g. supporting both thematic and cross-cutting policies, highlighting the strategic purpose of the European Research Area, etc.
develop regulations and laws in cooperation with scientists

Relevance for future R&D and STI policies

Note: RTD = research and technology development; STI = science, technology and innovation
RTD- think on countermeasures, increase social research
